Everything about The Deadlys totally explained
The Deadlys are an annual celebration of
Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander achievement in music, sport, entertainment and community.
Vibe Australia hosts the awards. They have been held since
1995.
SBS Television has been broadcasting the Awards over the last three years, produced by
Karla Grant, host of the Indigenous
current affairs program
Living Black.
Beginning in the Boomalli Artist Co-op in
Redfern, the event has always been held in
Sydney with subsequent venues included
The Metro Theatre, the
Hard Rock Café, Home Nightclub in
Darling Harbour and
Fox Studios.
In
2005 Imparja Television screened the 11th annual Deadly Awards from the Concert Hall of the
Sydney Opera House on
September 22,
2005.
The
2007 awards were held at the
Sydney Opera House on
September 27 and broadcast on
SBS television.
